Thanksgiving Day is an ancient holiday for Americans, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United State. The first thanksgiving celebrations known today can be traced back to 1620. The story goes like this, In September, 1620, a small ship called the Mayflower carrying some Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts. With the help of the native Indians, these Pilgrims began to know how to catch fish, hunt, cultivate corn and pumpkins and managed to survive. In November 1621, after the Pilgrims’ first corn harvest proved successful, and a celebratory feast was organized to thank god for his favors. And native Indians were invited. This is acknowledged today as the first thanksgiving. Nowadays, thanksgiving has been borrowed by many countries. People tend to expresses their gratitude to their families, friends, and colleagues on this day.
